Companies House - extending your filing deadline
05/07/2023. During the Covid pandemic, eligible companies were afforded an automatic 3 month extension to their filing deadlines at Companies House. This automatic extension then ceased and normal service resumed albeit companies could still choose to apply for a filing extension and, if eligible and citing Covid specifically as a reason, the 3 month filing extension would be automatically granted.
We all knew that Companies House would be revisiting this stance but didn’t know when and most would say that they were surprised it was still an option.
Did you know that without any advance warning during June 2023 this automatic option has since been removed? However please note the normal process to apply for an extension if the event is outside your control, such as illness or accounting issues, is still available and can be applied for in the normal way or speak to your local contact.
