Centre for Social Value

The Centre for Social Value brings together leaders from the public, business, education and third sectors with a passion for creating social value in their community, and the determination and experience to make it happen.

As part of our work on social value in the public sector and to build on our Rethinking Social Value report, Mazars has partnered with the University of Manchester, Queen Mary University of London and Durham University Business School to create the Centre for Social Value.

The issues that the Centre will consider include the leveraged role that can be played by educational institutions, the business community and the public and third sectors - each playing to our respective strengths and working together effectively to maximise our combined impact.

Roundtable in Manchester: Creating employment and widening participation amongst young people

In September 2019, Mazars held the first Centre for Social Value event, in association with the University of Manchester.

Held in our Manchester office, we discussed how business, the public and third sectors can work together to secure employment opportunities for disadvantaged young people and help them to develop to their full potential. Our expert introductory panel consisted of Andy Burnham, Mayor for Greater Manchester, Stephanie Lee, Head of Widening Participation and Outreach at The University of Manchester, and Pam Smith, Chief Executive of Stockport Council.

Roundtable in London: Improving diversity, equity and social mobility within the workplace

Our second roundtable was held virtually in February 2021 as a joint collaboration between Mazars, Queen Mary University London and the East London Business Alliance. The aim of the event was to discuss ways in which the public and private sector can together think innovatively and progressively about how to reduce the inequalities which Black individuals face in the workplace, focusing specifically on career development and progression.

See the page below for in-depth summaries of the discussions at the above roundtable events.
