Aidan Moran Senior Manager - Tax Dispute Resolution

Aidan joined our Tax Disputes team in May 2022, working out of our London office.

Having qualified as an Inspector of Taxes at HMRC, and later as a Chartered Tax Adviser, Aidan has extensive experience of advising Owner Managed Businesses and mid-sized corporate groups in their interactions with HMRC. He spent most of his time at HMRC undertaking investigations as part of the Technical & Specialist team - dealing with high-end evasion and HMRC’s most technically challenging casework. Now he focuses on advising clients and helping them negotiate the best possible outcome when they need the services of our Tax Disputes team. Aidan specialises in resolving and managing complex cross-tax investigations; particularly into owner-managed corporate groups involving High Net Worth Individuals or investigations under either Code of Practice 9 (COP9) or Code of Practice 8 (COP8).  

As a former Operational Lead in HMRC for a national specialist team, Aidan also has considerable insight into the strategic motivations behind HMRC enquiry work and the risk & data-focused approach HMRC uses in targetting their compliance activities, which can aid favourable outcomes when negotiating with HMRC.
