Sean is a Private Client Tax Director who specialises in international personal tax advice. Sean provides advice and compliance services to high-net-worth individuals, trustees, executors and other entities with a tax footprint in more than one jurisdiction.

Experience

Sean spent the first 11 years of his career at a leading private client law firm where he became a specialist in Trust taxation before moving into the accounting profession and focusing on international private client matters.

Areas of expertise include UK tax structuring, multi-jurisdictional estate planning, foreign entity analysis, double tax treaties, UK tax disclosures, remittance basis structuring, residence and domicile advice, trust and estate administration and UK tax compliance.

Work highlights

Sean won the Outstanding Student of the Year Award when completing the STEP Diploma and is recognised as a leading adviser on Trust and Estate taxation.

In the international field, Sean has helped many individuals navigate the complexities of multi-jurisdictional taxation, Double Tax Treaties, the Mutual Agreement Procedure and to make Disclosures to HMRC in order to bring their tax affairs up to date.

Sean has excellent technical and analytical ability and has provided technical advice and instructed Counsel in both Residence and Treaty Residence litigation.

He regularly contributes to the firm's technical updates, speaks at internal and external conferences and provides media comments on topical private client tax matters. Sean also Chairs the CIOT's Scottish Technical Committee.
