Richard is responsible for Mazars’ award winning business and human rights reporting line in the UK. Along with his team, Richard has devised an innovative service to help protect the reputation of businesses whilst ensuring they comply with their social and environmental obligations. Currently, Richard is a key member of the project team for the Reporting and Assurance Framework Initiative which has designed a Reporting Framework that is a guide for companies on what good reporting of their human rights performance looks like. The team is also in the process of designing an Assurance Framework to act as a guide for assurance professionals. The project is officially supported by the United Nations Working Group on Business and Human Rights.
Richard qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1992 with a large firm of accountants, where he spent two years in the Paris office on secondment. This enabled him to become conversant with French accountancy, tax and company law practices, which gave him a valuable European perspective. Today, he can provide specialist advice on many cross-border transactions, both for overseas companies investing in the UK and UK companies investing in Europe. Richard has particular expertise in the mining and oil and gas sectors and has clients with operations throughout Africa, Asia and America.
