Gemma Davidson Manager - Contentious Insolvency

Gemma is a manager in the Contentious insolvency team which investigates insolvent companies’ affairs and director conduct with the aim of maximising recoveries in formal insolvency procedures.

Experience 

Gemma is a corporate-qualified Insolvency Practitioner and has worked in Restructuring and insolvency since 2007.

Gemma has extensive experience in undertaking forensic investigations and identifying and pursuing claims under the Insolvency Act 1986 and Companies Act 2006. Her expertise is in contentious and fraud-based investigations, including overturning antecedent transactions and making recoveries from delinquent directors. Gemma is skilled in dealing with counter-tax avoidance claims, CIS and VAT fraud and Ponzi schemes and has worked on a number of successful, high-profile insolvency matters.

Gemma currently manages the Contentious Insolvency Centre of Excellence in London. This team specialises in identifying fraud, forensic investigations, litigation, asset tracing and recoveries in corporate insolvencies, working to maximise recoveries for creditors.

Recently, Gemma has developed a niche expertise in Government COVID-19 support measures such as CBILS, Bounce Back Loans and the Furlough Scheme.

Work Highlights 

Gemma has assisted in uncovering a number of high-profile, high-value frauds over the course of her career, and has been involved in issuing claims worth millions of pounds for the benefit of insolvent estates. Gemma's recent focus has been on the abuse of COVID-19 schemes, and recovering funds in that regard.
