Rob Hanley

Rob is responsible for a national portfolio of social housing internal audit clients across England and Wales. Rob's role is to ensure that our team delivers high-quality services to our clients and to be visible in the market to promote our services and grow in this sector.

Experience 

Rob is based in the Birmingham office and has been with the firm for just over 20 years this year. He has worked with social housing organisations of all sizes across the UK throughout his career with Mazars.

He is passionate about working within the sector to help social landlords improve their businesses and deliver their missions. He delivers both outsourced and co-sourced internal audit services and has strong relationships with regulators within the sector in England and Wales.

Rob is a specialist in internal controls, governance, and risk management and has wide experience in providing assurance over key sector risks, including all key areas of property safety, rents, and data quality. He also provides training for boards and audit committees on topics such as audit committee effectiveness and horizon scanning for emerging risks.

Work Highlights 

Rob puts tenant safety and data quality front and centre with many social landlords, providing scrutiny and challenge on the control environment to help the sector up its game in these areas.

He has provided support to a number of social landlords in navigating challenging regulatory issues by supporting them and providing assurance in key areas, helping them address regulator's concerns.

Rob has also provided training on internal audit, risk and assurance to aspiring board members from BME backgrounds to help them become 'board ready', supporting an initiative led by a number of social landlords (including clients).
