Nigel has considerable experience as a forensic accountant and expert witness, preparing expert reports, advising instructing solicitors and Counsel and giving oral evidence in complex accounting and contractual disputes, professional negligence actions, contentious financial valuations, accounting treatment disputes, breach of contract, loss of profits, accounting and financial reporting irregularities, transaction and warranty disputes and fraud and financial investigations. Nigel has given oral evidence in the High Court, Criminal Courts in the UK, UK and international Tribunal hearings and proceedings in the US. Nigel is routinely instructed to consider the appropriate treatment of transactions and balances in accordance with UK GAAP and International Financial Reporting Standards.
Nigel has also acted in the context of mediations, expert determinations and has sat as an arbitrator in ICC proceedings.
Whilst Nigel is a Forensic and Investigation Services specialist, until 2012 he retained responsibility for a number of audit clients. In that context, Nigel has a broad range of audit experience from small owner managed businesses to international companies and listed corporations. Over the last 30 years Nigel has worked on audits in a number of sectors including financial services, construction, IT, publishing, insurance, oil and gas and retail and leisure.
Nigel is the partner responsible for dealing with professional negligence claims against Mazars in the UK. He is a member of the UK Executive where he is responsible for Financial Advisory Services.
