Matthew Stark Head of Accounting & Outsourcing

Matt is a Chartered Accountant specialising in providing accounting and outsourcing solutions to clients in the Financial Services sector, particularly insurance, asset management and financial advisory businesses.

Matt is the Service Line Leader for our Accounting & Outsourcing (AOS) business and is a member of our Global AOS Board.

Experience 

Qualifying in 2004, Matt initially trained in Audit before moving to an operational role in a top10 accounting firm focusing on acquisitions and property transactions.
As Senior Manager and then Director he then began to specialise in Outsourcing, working operationally on systems and process improvement.

Matt then led a specialist outsourcing firm based in London, with a large offshore team in India. He gained great experience in different operating models, and in the importance of client service and referrals in building a business.

Matt left professional services to spend time as FD of a 6-site restaurant business. This provided insight into the challenges of running a business, with property, operational systems, HR, technology and finance responsibilities.

Matt applies these varied experiences when advising his clients. Partner since 2018, he has built a specialist financial services outsourcing business out of London and is Service Line Leader for AOS.

Work Highlights 

Matt qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2004, passing exams first time and being 1st placed in the Southern Region for the advanced stage.

From joining Mazars in 2016, initially as Operations Director for our Payroll business, Matt worked with the team to double the size of that business by 2023, creating a new specialist education sector delivery team.

In 2018 Matt launched the Financial Services outsourcing team from scratch, building a team of technical experts which has now reached 20 people.
