Matthew Goddard Senior Client Manager - SME

Matthew works closely with directors and business owners, helping them to realise their goals and ambitions. He forges strong relationships, advising businesses through growth, maturity, and ultimate exit. He provides bespoke, tailored accountancy and financial outsourcing solutions to help SMEs understand their business and capitalise on market opportunities.

Experience 

For 15 years, Matthew has been working with small businesses and their owners across the North of England to handle their compliance. Before joining Mazars  Matthew worked for a number of high street accountants taking on a broad range of responsibilities from looking after the accounting and taxation compliance of small & medium sized corporates to the personal taxation of their owners. He joined Mazars in 2016, looking for a challenge with a more corporate, international firm. Since joining Matthew has honed and broadened his skillset and he now manages the team in Manchester.

Matthew uses a holistic approach with his SME clients who like to deal with one individual to take care of the everyday, however, he also acts as a conduit to specialist advisers as and when required.

Work Highlights 

• Matthew works in a team that has seen growth in headcount and has achieved a doubling in fee growth over the last three years. 
• Matthew has a keen eye for quality and in 2020 he took on the role of Head of Quality for the SME business unit. Matthew took an active role in defining and establishing a quarterly QCR cycle to drive continuous improvement across our varied work with a focus on client experience. In 2022 he stepped back from this role to help drive growth across the North of England combining the teams in Leeds with Manchester with a common purpose of enhancing the services provided to our SME clients.
