Frank Strachan Head of Tax Investigations

Frank joined Mazars Tax Investigation team in October 2019 to lead the team nationally, based in our London office.

Having left HMRC in 2000, Frank has nearly 30 years of HMRC investigation experience. Prior to joining Mazars, he was head of tax at a London law firm.

Frank has extensive experience representing clients subject to a wide variety of HMRC investigations, including but not limited to investigations under COP 9, COP 8 and Cross Tax Enquiries.

Since leaving HMRC, Frank has gained a market leading expertise representing clients under investigation in relation to international assets and travels frequently to advise clients, trust companies, law firms, banks and wealth management firms in their own jurisdiction. Instructions are regularly received in relation to high profile clients in the media and sporting world arising from relationships built up over many years with agents and managers who trust Frank to resolve matters robustly, sensitively and confidentially.

Frank is a regular speaker on a variety of tax related matters including HMRC disclosure facilities; HMRC’s penalties and powers; HMRC assessing time limits and NMW investigations.

In 2020 Frank was named as one the 50 Most Influential professional advisors by a respected international journal.
