Dan Mellows Director - Governance, Risk & Internal Audit

Dan has eleven years’ experience of providing assurance and advisory services to the financial services sector, specialising in the delivery of outsource and co-source internal audit services to the insurance industry. He leads a number of engagements with general insurers, life insurers, Lloyd’s managing agents, mutuals and brokers. He is an expert in the risks and challenges facing such entities, including those presented by the changing regulatory landscape. Dan is knowledgeable of market best practice and assists his clients in its proportionate application.

Dan also specialises in governance – he has led and delivered a range of governance-related reviews, including Section 166 Skilled Person Reviews, board effectiveness reviews and external quality assessments (EQAs) of internal audit functions.

Dan designs, delivers and reports upon internal audit plans and areas of risk for his clients, ensuring effective delivery. Dan has facilitated the implementation of an insurer’s risk management framework and was instrumental in the set-up of the internal audit function of a public interest reinsurer.

Dan is an experienced report writer, acting as a primary peer reviewer for insurance internal audit reports. He regularly presents to audit (and other) committees and is in regular liaison with C-suite executives and non-executives.
