Mazars National Challenge: Coming together for Sense

1 October 2018

Following our #Sense1000 cycle relay last year, the Mazars National Challenge will bring our teams across the country together to support Sense from 1 to 5 October.

This year, we are joining forces in a different way: as our teams take part in inclusive challenges, they will learn more about Sense. The challenges range from walking the West Highland Way to scavenger hunts around cities – and we’ll even attempt to break a World Record along the way!

All the funds raised through these challenges will go to Sense, a national charity that supports people who are deafblind, have sensory impairments or complex needs to enjoy more independent lives. By joining forces across the UK, we can support Sense to reach their goal of helping everyone to achieve their full potential, irrespective of the challenges they face.

About Sense

We will be raising money for Sense who are a leading national charity that support people who are deafblind, have sensory impairments or complex needs to enjoy more independent lives.

There are approximately 358,000 people in the UK who are deafblind, and this figure is estimated to rise to half a million by 2030.

Since the charity’s founding in 1955, Sense have developed specialist skills in supporting people to communicate, express themselves and grow in independence. They provide advice and support to people of all ages, as well as their families and carers.

The charity builds its services around the wishes and needs of the individual, tailoring the support provided to each person so that they can live as independently as possible and participate fully in the lives of their local communities.

The services that they offer range from organising summer holidays and short breaks, to helping people with their home lives and running community resource centres. Sense have also setup a college which has a specially designed curriculum for young people and adults, and they have a network of charity shops located around the UK. You can find out more about the work that they do by visiting their website.
