Meet the panel 


Michael writes about auditors, accountants, consultants, corporate governance and insolvency for the Financial Times. He previously spent two years at the Daily Telegraph and the Sunday Telegraph, where he reported on all aspects of financial services and regulation and on professional services. Michael has been shortlisted for this year’s Wincott Award for young journalist of the year. Before becoming a journalist, he worked for three years as a corporate lawyer in London and Singapore.  


The appointment by HM Treasury in 2014 of Catherine to the board of the FCA, the UK financial regulator, was her first Non-Executive directorship, where she also became Chair of its Audit Committee. Catherine was also Chairman of the Audit & Finance Committee of PSA Peugeot-Citroen and oversaw its acquisition of General Motors’ businesses in Europe, as well as its successful merger with the Fiat Chrysler group in January 2021. Catherine currently sits on the boards of Johnson Electric (Hong Kong listed); of easyJet plc where she is Chair of the Finance Committee; and of Kingfisher Plc (FTSE100), where she also serves as its Senior Independent Director. She is a pro bono Board Member of the Value Reporting Foundation, new name for the sustainability accounting and climate change reporting body currently formed from the merger of the IIRC in the UK and SASB in the US.

Prior to her plural responsibilities, Catherine had a 30-year executive career in investment banking and risk management, in the US, the UK and finally Asia. Catherine was appointed a Commander of the British Empire in the 2019 Queen Birthday’s Honours List.  


Jeannette is a Senior Global ESG Manager with responsibility for implementing LGIM’s corporate governance strategy across engagement, integration, voting and the development of ESG products, with a particular focus on the financial sector. Jeannette represents LGIM on the Investment Association’s Company Reporting & Auditing Group.

Prior to joining LGIM, Jeannette was a Responsible Investment Analyst at USS Investment Management between 2008 and 2015 where she divided her time between developing and implementing USS's stewardship policies and working as an equity analyst.  Jeannette graduated from Anglia Ruskin University in 2008 and holds the CFA and CAIA charterships. In 2014 Jeannette was recognised by Financial News as one of the 40 under 40 Rising Stars of Asset Management.


David is Mazars’ UK & Global Head of Audit. He has over 25 years of audit experience, particularly of large and complex international groups, and is a key Mazars spokesperson on issues affecting audit competition, audit quality, joint audit and long-term sustainability.

He is a vice-chair of the Audit & Assurance Policy Group of Accountancy Europe and is also Mazars’ representative with EcoDa, the European voice of Board directors. David has played a critical role in the launch and development of two major Mazars initiatives: the Centre for Audit Committee and Investor Dialogue and Mazars’ Business.For Good®. He continues to actively support these ground-breaking initiatives. David is also an active member of the Academy for Business in Society (ABIS).
