Internal audit and local counter fraud services

We have extensive experience in providing both internal audit and local counter fraud services across the NHS. Of key importance to us is the integration of the two services, so as to provide a joined up, co-ordinated assurance service. We believe that we have the skills, methodologies and technological capabilities needed to achieve this, thus delivering a service which is efficient, effective and truly adding value to our clients.

Health advisory

Our health advisory team blends clinical, managerial and financial expertise and experience for the benefit of our clients. Head of Health Advisory, Mary-Ann Bruce, is a registered general nurse, a registered children’s nurse and a registered health visitor and her experience of managing many health services gives her highly credible insight into the challenges facing managers in our health clients. We work with many different types of health organisations addressing a number of the governance, cultural and clinical challenges they face. We focus our help on health commissioners (NHS and local authorities) and commissioning support units (CSUs); mental health provider trusts and acute trusts.

We are working with Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) and Commissioning Support Units (CSUs) supporting them in various ways as they continue to establish themselves. Our expertise in governance combined with our understanding of the health sector is particularly helpful as these new organisations grapple with the challenge of commissioning locally sensitive services within a tightening financial envelope. Our team recognise that you are not working alone and that the integration of services with other organisations is part of your agenda.  We can help you work with your partners including drawing on data and information sources from across the health and social care spectrum.

We offer bespoke modelling services to CCGs and any organisation wishing to use their existing information to inform better decisions. Our first class modelling team are able to develop Excel based, complex, yet easy to use models. Recent examples include: financial forecasting and sensitivity analysis to inform future spending and identify the right focus for savings efforts.

Mazars also specialises in working in the mental health and learning disability arena. We help commissioning organisations (often working with local providers) to navigate through the wide range of mental health data and develop tools which support service reviews, mental health strategies and decision making. We help present complex data simply.

We offer a bespoke and flexible approach to supporting our commissioning clients: each one’s needs are different and we provide only what is explicitly required and relevant in each case. What is always the same however is that the support, whether it is a facilitated workshop for clinicians or managers, developing business cases, reviewing aspects of a strategy or service, a critique of aspects of financial, QIPP or business plans, will be provided by highly experienced and credible consultants
