When multiple assets are owned and controlled by a single financial investor, there are a number of enhancements that can be considered across a portfolio in order to increase shareholder returns and maximise year on year cash flow. The enhancements can be roughly grouped into finance, operations, and tax and accounting.
We use our financial modelling and advisory experience to work with you towards adding value to your existing investment portfolio and incorporate the following enhancements into the underlying financial models:
- contract variations, such as additional services in return for increased returns and management fees;
- tax and treasury management, for example improvements to tax efficiency and cash deposit rates;
- inflation and payment mechanism adjustments;
- insurance, profit and other risk share mechanisms;
- lifecycle adjustments and modelling, for example the extension of the useful life of assets to reduce or postpone capital replacement costs;
- refinancing of project finance debt and other financial engineering to improve distribution profiles;
- divestments and acquisitions, for example utilising opportunities to exercise pre-emption rights in the event that co-shareholders seek to dispose of project holdings; and
- third party agreements, for example seeking opportunities to generate additional cash flow streams from third parties for the use of project facilities.
