Mazars has appointed independent non executives (INEs) within its governance structure
Group Governance Council
Since December 2011, the Group Governance Council (GGC) has included independent external members appointed by the Partners at our General Meeting. This additional step towards greater independence illustrates our desire to ensure that supervision of the Group is as impartial as possible and that joint decision-making powers are exercised with the highest level of independence. The current Group Governance Council was elected by the General Meeting of Partners in December 2016.
The GGC is in charge of overseeing the proper functioning of the Mazars organisation worldwide and the independent non-executives are expected to make a contribution to all aspects of its work. In particular one of the key objectives of their role is to enhance the confidence of our clients’ shareholders in the public interest aspects of the firm’s decision‐making, stakeholder dialogue and management of reputational risks including those in the firm’s businesses that are not effectively addressed by regulation.
The appointed independent member on the GGC is Denise Fletcher, first appointed in 2012. Denise also serves on or chairs the following committees:
Public Interest Committee

Denise Fletcher chairs the PIC. In addition, Guy Jubb joined in November 2017 and Sir Amyas Morse in December 2019 as independent non-executives to the UK Public Interest Committee, which applies oversight to decision making, quality and risk across the audit business.
