Mazars appoints new partner to lead regulatory practice

Mazars, the international accountancy and advisory firm, has hired Serena Joseph, an expert in financial services regulation and compliance, as a partner. She will spearhead the expansion of the firm’s regulatory advisory practice.

Serena will work with the firm’s financial services clients on all aspects of FSA regulation, focusing on the move to a principles-based regulatory approach and meeting the expectations set out in the revised “ARROW” framework. She has a particular interest in corporate governance and embedding regulatory principles into business design and process.

She brings extensive experience of advising banks and insurers on managing regulatory change and their relationship with the FSA, having worked closely with most of the top ten players in each sector. She has also provided high-level consultancy to regulatory bodies.

Serena joins Mazars from Ernst & Young. She began her career as a corporate banker with Barclays, and has also worked at KPMG and Deutsche Bank.

Commenting on her appointment, Serena said: “I am delighted to join Mazars – the firm has an impressive financial services client list and I look forward to enhancing the regulatory support we offer those organisations.”
