A long awaited change to the way tax can be paid will be introduced in the Autumn of 2008 when taxpayers will be allowed to pay their debt by credit card. It remains to be seen how welcome a change this will be given the raft of press on personal debts averaging at £7k per person. Will taxpayers be prepared to get deeper into debt by moving the debt they have with HMRC to a credit card company? For those payers who clear their credit cards monthly however, payment by credit card will allow money to remain within the payers bank account for a further 30-45 days.
