Role
As a senior representative of the firm, the senior is responsible for the image of the firm presented at the clients by the audit team. Has specific responsibility for the day to day running of assignments, production of financial statements and the efficient and orderly completion of the audit fieldwork.
Responsibilities
- Planning the audit assignment including drafting the budget, making a preliminary assessment of risk and materiality, tailoring the audit programmes.
- Compiling financial statements from client books and records (computerised and manual)
- Allocating work to the audit team.
- Providing on the job training for assistants.
- Completing the complex areas of the assignment.
- Building strong working relationships with clients.
- Reviewing the work of assistants.
- Ensuring that standards are maintained and procedures followed by the whole team.
- Controlling time spent and monitoring actual time with the budget.
- Drafting the audit summary paper for the Manager and Partner, drafting the management letter or discussion points.
- Keeping the Manager informed of progress and ensuring that any technical or budget problems are highlighted immediately.
- Ensuring that cross-selling opportunities for the firm are brought to the Manager’s attention.
- Providing constructive feedback for the completion of staff appraisals on the assistants.
Key competencies/requirements
- ACA or ACCA qualified.
- Experience of working as an audit senior on corporate clients and potentially charity / pension clients.
- IT literate.
- Effective communication skills.
- Interest in Marketing.
