Ray has 29 years’ professional experience as an auditor including the last 19 years as a specialist in the insurance sector. He has been a member of the Insurance Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW) since 2003 and has acted as Consultant to the UK standards setting bodies for auditing and accounting on the impact of their proposals for the insurance sector.
Ray’s foundations in the sector are with life business and he now serves as audit partner on a range of insurers (both life and non-life), pulling together and reporting on the findings of multi-disciplined engagement teams, including actuarial, tax, IT and regulatory compliance consultants. Audit clients have included those developing Internal Models under Solvency II and those in the PRA’s small business pilot. Non audit projects have included: skilled persons’ reviews; expert witness support; fair value accounting under IFRS 3 for an annuity provider; and review of governance standards amongst mutuals.
