Meet the Mazars Actuarial team.
Peter Gatenby, FIA
Peter is our senior life actuary at Mazars and is responsible for developing the actuarial practice of Mazars on a worldwide basis. Since joining Mazars in 2009 Peter has become a leading expert in all aspects of Solvency II and works closely with our European colleagues to provide Solvency II advice across Europe and the world. Peter is also currently building a pension’s advisory service for Mazars in the UK.
Peter is a former member of the Council of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries and is also involved in public affairs work for the actuarial profession as well as being a member of the health and care practice executive committee.
Adam Brunskill, FIA
Adam has in excess of 20 years experience in the London market across a range of non-life organisations. Starting his career with a leading mutual insurance manager he has held positions at a large direct insurer, a reinsurance company and Lloyd's syndicates. His most recent role, prior to joining Mazars, was as a member of the executive management and Chief Actuary of Great Lakes, the direct insurance arm of the Munich Re Group.
With extensive experience across the main actuarial activities in a commercial environment Adam has a particular interest in business strategy and the practical application of actuarial techniques to support business requirements. He has enjoyed success with "start-up" ventures and setting up "green field" actuarial departments. At Mazars he is the actuarial audit Partner for a large number of entities ranging from some of the largest insurance companies to oversight of captives. He also has a leading role in the provision of Solvency II services for clients.
Dale Lee, FIA
Dale has over 25 years of experience working in London and overseas. He was previously Group Actuary at Thomas Miller and Company, the world's largest mutual insurance managers where he implemented solvency modeling. His commercial background includes professional indemnity underwriting, claims management and he was part of an executive management team that formed Certa UK Ltd, an underwriting agency of Allianz.
More recently he was Commutations Director of Downlands Liability Management, the UK non-life subsidiary of Hartford Financial Services Group where he led the development of the ICA modeling. Dale is also a member of the Institute of Actuaries general insurance education committee.
Omar Ripon
Omar has over 17 year’s experience in the insurance industry in both actuarial and risk management roles. He has held risk manager roles in the industry and was the Head of risk for a UK insurance group prior to becoming a consultant in 2005 with a big 4 firm. Omar joined Mazars from Deloitte in April 2011. Omar has significant experience of supporting insurers in building and implementing risk based capital management systems under the FSA's ICA regime and is a SII subject matter expert having worked exclusively on SII engagements since 2006. He has a wealth of experience in designing and implementing risk management architecture under SII. Omar has worked on numerous SII clients on projects ranging from high level gap analysis reviews to full scale implementation projects.
Marjorie Ngwenya, FIA
Marjorie Ngwenya is an actuary specialising in risk management, life and health insurance. She is a member of the Council of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries and she has experience in UK taxation, pensions, reinsurance pricing, and the internal and external audit of insurance clients.
In addition to the UK, Marjorie has worked in the Netherlands and Canada.
Paul Tysoe, FIA
Paul has worked for personal lines insurers for the last 14 years, most recently as an executive director at Zenith Insurance. One of the first resident actuaries in Gibraltar, Paul played an instrumental role in setting up Gibraltar’s Solvency II committee to act as the local insurance industry’s mouthpiece on Solvency II matters which affect the market as a whole. Prior to working for Zenith, Paul spent a number of years working as the general insurance actuary at Liverpool Victoria Insurance Company in the UK. The greater part of Paul’s working life has been spent alongside non-actuarial insurance professionals and he takes a keen interest in ensuring that actuarial concepts are properly communicated to them.
Margaret de Valois, FIA
Margaret de Valois has joined the Actuarial Team in London to lead Mazars Global Pensions and Investment Advisory team ("GPIA"). Margaret's team will focus on providing strategic advise to corporate sponsors and trustees of occupational pension schemes in the UK and overseas, including OMBs as well as PIEs and Private Equity parents. Margaret and the team will provide due diligence reviews for M&A purposes, undertake IFRS, FRS17 and IAS19 reviews as well as providing wider actuarial consulting services around managing non operational risk in pension schemes and providing strategic advice on the set up and winding up of occupational pension scheme arrangements.
Margaret joins Mazars from Schroders Investment Management where she was a Client Relationship Director with responsibility for over £2bn of assets for both pensions and insurance clients. Prior to this she spent 12 years in actuarial consulting.
