Hospitality & Leisure sector survey 2014: key findings

We are delighted to share with you the key findings of the Mazars annual survey of leading firms in the hospitality and leisure industry which reveal key challenges and opportunities facing the sector.

For the third year running, we surveyed a cross section of finance directors, HR directors and owner-managers in the hotel, bar and restaurant and tourism sectors to gauge their views on the events of the past 12 months and the challenges that lie ahead.

We surveyed a cross section of finance directors, HR directors and owner-managers in the hotel, bar and restaurant and tourism sectors during October and November 2014.

Key findings include:

  • Customer expectations are increasing as overheads rise and profit margins decline
  • Pricing competition will continue to drive the sector over the next three years
  • Raising finance is a key challenge and more needs to be done to help independent operators
  • Brand loyalty is more important than five years ago

We would like to take this opportunity to thank respondents for the time and thought they devoted to completing this survey.

If you would like to discuss the results in more detail, including implications for your business, contact Gareth Jones or hospitalityandleisure@mazars.co.uk
