Mazars launches new ‘Boardroom Centre for Quoted Companies’

18 November 2016

Mazars, the integrated and independent international organisation specialising in audit, accountancy, tax and consulting services, has announced the launch of a new forum, ‘The Boardroom Centre for Quoted Companies. ’.

The Boardroom Centre, a collaboration between London Stock Exchange and Mazars, launched with the first of three planned events in London on Wednesday 16 November.

Other events are planned to take place in Manchester and also in Birmingham, which will take place on Monday 21 November at Opus Restaurant.

Called “The Boardroom Centre for Quoted Companies”, this forum will allow finance directors and audit committee chairs to come together to discuss important issues in an informal setting.

Partner and Head of Mazars Board Practice, Anthony Carey, who led the initiative in collaboration with London Stock Exchange commented: “There has been great discussions on the powerful role that Boards play in fostering the long-term sustainable success of their businesses. Boards, as well the executive team, have a vital role to play in setting the right tone from the top to ensure emphasis is given to recruiting the best people and forging them into a winning team. This forum will provide them with the support and opportunity to share experiences and knowledge across a range of dimensions and diversity of thinking.”

Louis Burns, audit partner in Mazars’ Birmingham office, said: “The aim is to provide a forum where representatives of quoted companies can address solutions to issues affecting them and help prepare for what’s on the horizon.

“Our event in Birmingham will feature roundtable discussions over dinner with meetings held under the Chatham House Rule to encourage open, lively and frank exchanges. Led by organisations with deep market knowledge and insight, we also look forward to hearing from experts on a wide range of strategic financial issues that affect businesses.”

Emma Titmus, Business Development Manager, Primary Markets, London Stock Exchange: “At London Stock Exchange Group we firmly believe that high standards of corporate governance make a crucial contribution to companies’ long-term performance. Mazars’ new forum, The Boardroom Centre for Quoted Companies, is an invaluable opportunity for senior directors to come together, share best practice and discuss executing their growth plans.”

The forum is open to finance directors and audit committee chairs of all quoted companies, but with particular relevancy to those on FTSE SmallCap, FTSE Fledgling and AIM.

Themes to be discussed at the dinner will include having a purpose and clear strategy, engaging effectively with investors and employees, customers and suppliers, encouraging innovation, choosing the right non-executive directors, having a healthy board, implementing the right board structure, and corporate culture.
