Corporate finance heavyweight to lead expansion of international accountancy firm in Wales

Mazars, the international accountancy and advisory firm, continues to extend its specialist services across the UK with the appointment of Adrian Godfrey as corporate finance partner for Wales and the South West.

The appointment will see Mazars, which currently has 15 offices in England and Scotland,  extend its reach into Wales through a new office in Cardiff.

Adrian, who previously led the corporate finance practice at Haines Watts, brings a wealth of knowledge and experience earned over more than 30 years of working with successful businesses in the capital and throughout the country. His deal highlights include the development of Vale Hospital as a joint venture between medical consultants and Nuffield Health, the merger of Trinity College and Lampeter University, the sale of Howies to Timberland, the acquisition of Cardiff Airport, and the employee buy-out of Tower Colliery.

Adrian will be joined by Keith Morgan, a business recovery specialist formerly of PKF, who moved to Mazars in April of this year. Initially concentrating on corporate finance, transaction services and business recovery, Adrian and Keith will be supported by a team of skilled staff working across the firm’s South West region.

Stephen Christopher, Regional Managing Partner, says: “We are extremely pleased to welcome Adrian to Mazars. His experience speaks for itself: he will be a great asset to the firm and our clients as he helps expand our services into the Welsh marketplace. We already have a growing number of Welsh clients, including high profile companies such as pottery specialist Portmerion and are now seeking to further strengthen our position with a permanent presence . In spite of the recent harsh conditions, the entrepreneurial spirit remains strong; we’re excited about being on the ground to provide tailored support and advice to the businesses that the form the bedrock of the country’s economy.”

Adrian Godfrey comments, “Joining Mazars will enable me to strengthen and to expand the scale of advisory work I undertake.  Greater resources, the support of specialists in other advisory areas such as tax and restructuring, and access to an international network of partners were all key factors in attracting me to the firm; I am sure that all of this will also be appealing to both current and future clients. This endeavour represents a significant commitment to strengthening the corporate finance expertise available to Welsh businesses.”
