• Gareth Davies will lead new venture alongside former Audit Commission colleagues

DA Partnership Ltd is delighted to have been provisionally awarded the Audit Commission contract for the North East and North Yorkshire.  We look forward to welcoming the Audit Commission team in that area when it transfers in the autumn and to working with our new audit clients.

Our excitement is tinged with disappointment that our bid (prepared with DA Partnership’s strategic partner Mazars LLP) was not successful in other parts of the country.  This means that we have insufficient work to launch as an employee-owned independent firm.  Instead, DA Partnership Ltd becomes a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mazars LLP and will trade as Mazars DA.

As part of the Mazars group, Mazars DA will aim to build on its success in the North East and North Yorkshire to offer a distinctive audit and advisory service to public service clients across the UK.  The blend of deep public service expertise from the Audit Commission and Mazars’ existing strengths in social housing, education, charities and public services internationally makes this an exciting proposition.

Gareth Davies will be joining Mazars as Head of Public Services to lead the new venture.  He will be reunited there with a team of former Audit Commission advisory colleagues led by Mark Fletcher. Gareth said: “I’m looking forward to working with the North East and North Yorkshire team, the advisory team and Mazars colleagues to build a new and exciting offer for our public service clients. We have not achieved our dream of a mutual audit practice, but we will be driven by the same ethos of high quality audit and advice provided by experts in the sector ”

David Herbinet, Head of Public Interest Markets at Mazars LLP, said:
“This win is a significant opportunity to widen the choice of audit and advisory providers to the public sector.  We also look forward to using this platform to grow and expand Mazars’ services to all sectors of the economy in the North East.”
