Threefifty is an innovative joint venture between Warwick Business School, one of Europe’s leading centres of business education and research, and Mazars.
Threefifty brings together leaders of FTSE 350 and other international companies in roundtable discussions to address issues that are high on the boardroom agenda from a range of perspectives.
The honorary chairman of threefifty is Norman Murray, chairman of Cairn Energy, the FTSE 100 company, and a non-executive director of Greene King and Robert Wiseman Dairies. Norman is also a past President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland and a past Chairman of the British Venture Capital Association.
Launching the initiative, Norman Murray said ‘threefifty aims to encourage fresh thinking and generate practical ideas that boards can implement in order to enhance the sustainable success of their business’.
The roundtable discussions are held under Chatham House rules but concise boardroom reports are published on the main themes to emerge from the forums.
Last year, we held two threefifty dinners at which our guest speakers were Sir Ian Gibson, Chairman of Wm Morrison Supermarkets and Trinity Mirror, and Richard Lambert, Director General of the Confederation of British Industry and Chancellor of Warwick University.
This year we are holding three dinners. Our first speaker was Sir Mike Rake, Chairman of BT, who addressed the issue of ‘Lessons to be learnt from this downturn and how to emerge from it as a leaner, fitter competitor’. Further guest speakers for 2009 are to be announced shortly.
