Was the Budget good for business?

The Government's recent Emergency Budget sent shockwaves around the country as the new Chancellor, George Osborne, set out measures for tackling the country's spiralling budget deficit in, what he called, "the unavoidable Budget". Now the dust has settled, we ask three of our experts to reflect on the Chancellor's initiatives and what they could mean for business owners.

Tax

George Osborne’s intentions are to support a rebalancing of the economy where the private sector grows as the public sector contracts, where the economy is less dependent on the financial sector, and where growth is not so strongly dependent on consumption.

VAT

The increase in the VAT rate from17.5% to 20% in the emergency budget did not come as much of a surprise. What impact do you think it will have on businesses?
