Attended by the very crème de la crème of the international crime writing scene, including Ian Rankin, William McIllvanney, Denise Mina and Val McDermid; the festival sold over 4,000 tickets with many events selling out and has been hailed as an overwhelming success.

Bloody Scotland was exceptionally well received by the media, with coverage of the event appearing on BBC Radio 2, the BBC Book Cafe, STV, the Sunday Times, The Daily Record, Scottish Sun, The Herald, The Scotsman, most Scottish local media and throughout publishing sector press. It was supported by Creative Scotland and EventScotland and also promoted across the web and social media.

Mazars' headline sponsorship allowed the inaugural event to go ahead and has ensured that a significant and successful new literary event has been added to the Scottish cultural calendar. As well as increased profile in the Scottish marketplace for Mazars - whose name was associated with the festival throughout - the event has enhanced 'brand Scotland' by showcasing the country as a global player on the literary stage.

Scottish managing partner, Peter Jibson, delivered the keynote speech at the Mazars' sponsors reception on the Saturday evening of the festival to a packed audience of guests, journalists and authors, making sure that the Mazars' name remains on the lips of key Scottish cultural and business players.
