We will also be joined by John Holden, a director of research at New Economy, the body providing research and advice on economic policy to support Greater Manchester’s growth and prosperity. John will set out the local and national economic factors which influence the Chancellor’s taxation policy.
This is Mr Hammond’s first Budget and the last ever Spring Budget. With Article 50 expected to be triggered shortly, Mr Hammond will have to balance the desire to make the UK an attractive proposition as a place to do business with the need to protect tax revenues and continue the clamp down on avoidance.
After his relatively quiet debut as Chancellor in last year’s Autumn Statement, we are looking forward to Mr Hammond making his mark in March.
