Practical challenges of implementing ORSA and the Use Test

Please join us on Wednesday 8 June 2011 for an ORSA and Use Test briefing for insurers.

08/06/2011

The UK insurance industry is now in full-swing implementing the Solvency II (SII) regulatory requirements that are still being shaped and finalised by the EU parliament and council. The reality of designing and operating under SII Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA) and Use test compliant risk management models is now hitting home for many insurers. ORSA (all firms) and Use test (internal model firms only) are linked in many ways and our briefing on 8 June has been designed to support your thinking around the implementation approach and methodology.

The primary objective of the briefing is to provide you with some insight into the practical challenges and opportunities in designing and implementing an effective ORSA framework. We will also discuss our perspective on the Use Test and how it fits with the ORSA process and output.

Speakers Peter Gatenby (Partner, Mazars Actuaries and Consultants) and Omar Rippon (Director, Mazars) will cover the key issues across these hot topics including:

  • ORSA: What do the regulations say and how should we interpret them?
  • ORSA vs. ICA: Understanding the differences to fully comply with the regulations
  • ORSA design and build features in the context of internal and external reporting
  • Integrating ORSA process and output with Use Test requirements
  • What should insurers be doing now to implement and embed ORSA and Use test by 1 January 2013
