Prior to joining Mazars in May 2008, Stephen worked as a senior investigator in HM Revenue & Customs where he had a twenty five year career investigating a broad spectrum of individuals and businesses ranging from taxi drivers and public houses through to high net worth individuals, large multi-national entities and large tax avoidance schemes.
Stephen’s role at Mazars is to support clients who are subject to HM Revenue & Customs investigations whether it is at local office level, through the Civil Investigation of Fraud process, by Specialist Investigations (under Code of Practice 8 or 9) or by one of HM Revenue & Customs specialist bodies. Stephen is also responsible for proactive risk management work for clients aimed at ensuring that internal systems and practices are robust in the light of any likely regulatory challenges.
Stephen keeps up to date with current developments in the world of tax investigations and is always happy to visit intermediaries, businesses or individuals to discuss current issues likely to have significance and ways of successful planning for the future.
